¡Hoy es Saint Patrick’s!
Hoy es 17 de marzo así que estamos de celebración. En este post hemos hablado con detalle de Saint Patrick’s day y para celebrar el día hemos preparado una lectura corta en inglés sobre dos amigos que pasan este día juntos y hacen un montón de cosas típicas. Si sales hoy esperamos que lo pases tan bien como ellos.
Antes de leerlo vamos a ver algunas expresiones y vocabulario que aparecen en el texto que nos han parecido interesantes:
Two peas in a pod: Quiere decir que dos personas son muy parecidas o que les gusta lo mismo. My sister and I are two peas in a pod, we even have the same taste in music and movies.
Stumble upon: Puede significar tropezarse, o encontrarse con alguieno algo por sorpresa. During her walk in the park, she stumbled upon a concert by a local band that was playing
Shenanigans: Digamos que son travesuras, pero hechas por adultos. My friends and I always seem to get into some shenanigans whenever we hang out.
Audition: Nada que ver con el oído. To audition for something es hacer un casting. The casting director was impressed with the young actors who auditioned for the lead role.
Off-key: Desafinado. Mary tried her best to hit the right notes, but she ended up singing off-key.
Vendor stalls: Puesto de venta callejero. The farmer’s market was filled with vendor stalls selling fresh produce, handmade crafts, and delicious food.

“Green Beer, Parades, and Laughter: A St. Patrick’s Day Celebration”
It was St. Patrick’s Day, and Liam and Erin were ready to have fun! They were like two peas in a pod, celebrating the holiday together for as long as they could remember. They had a plan to explore the city and all the festivities with all the excitement of a kid on Christmas morning.
Their first stop was a local pub, where they stumbled upon some of their friends, who were just as festive as they were. They ordered a round of green beers and joined in on the shenanigans. The music was lively, and the friends danced like they were auditioning for Riverdance. They laughed so hard, they felt like they could’ve been in a comedy sketch.
Next, they made their way to the city center, where the St. Patrick’s Day parade was taking place. The streets were filled with people dressed in green, cheering and celebrating like they were the champions of the world. Liam and Erin joined in on the excitement, waving their flags and singing along to the Irish songs. They sang so off-key that even the birds were covering their ears.
After the parade, they stumbled upon a street fair, where they tried some traditional Irish delicacies, like corned beef and cabbage, Irish stew, and Guinness. They also visited some vendor stalls, where they picked up some souvenirs to take home as evidence of their wild and crazy day.
As the day came to an end, Liam and Erin found themselves sitting on a bench in a nearby park, watching the sunset and reflecting on their day. They talked about all the laughter and memories they had made and how much they cherished their friendship.
