Aprende inglés con lecturas cortas

Hola, bienvenido a nuestra lectura corta para aprender inglés. Aquí tienes una lectura corta navideña sobre “John’s Christmas Errand”. Errand, por cierto, es “recado” así que sería “El recado navideño de John”. He creado este texto con la ayuda de GPT3, me ha creado una historia buenísima y muy útil para aprender inglés leyendo. Es corta, bonita y te ayudará a mejorar tu inglés afianzándolo ya que te dará estructuras y vocabulario nuevo que probablemente recordarás en el futuro al haberlo leído en una historia.

En esta lectura corta quiero que aprendas la frase “couldn’t help but + verbo“.

John’s Christmas Errand

John was running late for his meeting at the post office. He had been so busy at work that he had completely forgotten to mail out the package he had promised to send to his mother for Christmas. As he rushed through the doors, he was met with a long line of people waiting to be served. He groaned inwardly, knowing that this was going to take a while.

As John waited in line, he couldn’t help but overhear the conversations of the people around him. There was a mother trying to mail a present to her son in the military, a young couple sending out their wedding invitations, and an elderly man trying to mail a box of cookies to his grandkids. John couldn’t help but feel a sense of community and connection as he listened to their stories.

Finally, it was John’s turn to be served. He stepped up to the counter and explained to the postal worker that he needed to send out a package as soon as possible. The worker, a kind-faced woman named Debbie, assured John that she would do everything she could to get his package shipped out on time for Christmas.

As Debbie worked, John couldn’t help but feel grateful for the service that the post office provided. Without it, he would have no way of sending his mother’s gift on time, or keeping in touch with his loved ones. He left the post office feeling grateful and connected to his community: this was going to be a great Christmas.
