Semana Santa en Inglaterra – Lectura corta

Con motivo de la Semana Santa (Easter, en inglés) te traemos una lectura corta en inglés en la que podrás conocer las actividades típicas y ver qué diferente es de la semana santa en España. En lo que si coincidimos es en la fecha y que esos días son festivos. Aunque el origen es religioso, hoy en día la mayoría de las actividades que se realizan en Inglaterra no son religiosas. Lo que si es común en Inglaterra es Easter Egg hunt, se trata de una actividad que se realiza durante la celebración de Pascua en la que se esconden huevos de chocolate o huevos duros pintados para que los niños los busquen y recojan en un jardín o parque. Previamente, los niños pintan y decoran estos huevos en casa con sus familias o en el colegio.

Bank Holiday: Dia festivo. A public holiday in the UK, on which banks and most businesses are closed.

Treat: Regalo, obsequio. Something that is done or given to someone to make them feel good or happy. It can refer to an item of food, a gift, an activity, or an experience.
-Example: I brought some treats for my colleagues to celebrate their hard work.

Charity: Caridad, obra benéfica. An organization set up to provide help and raise money for those in need. It can also refer to the act of giving to those in need or to a particular cause.
-Example: I donate to a charity that provides food for homeless people in my city.

Costume: Disfraz. Clothing worn to represent a particular character, occupation, or theme, especially in a performance or at a party.

“A Joyful Easter Celebration in the Heart of England”

It was a beautiful spring morning, and Hannah was getting ready for the Bank Holiday Easter weekend. She was excited to celebrate with her family and friends, and had planned a long weekend full of activities.

On Good Friday, Hannah and her family went for a walk in the countryside, taking in the beautiful spring flowers and watching the lambs play in the fields. They also visited a local chocolate factory and indulged in some delicious Easter treats.

On Saturday, Hannah and her friends organized an Easter egg hunt in the park. They spent the morning hiding eggs and decorating baskets, and then spent the afternoon running around and searching for them. They also enjoyed some hot cross buns and Easter-themed snacks.

On Easter Sunday, Hannah’s family gathered for a traditional Easter lunch, with roast lamb, potatoes, and vegetables. They also exchanged chocolate eggs and other treats, and spent the afternoon playing games and chatting.

On Easter Monday, Hannah and her friends decided to take part in a charity Easter fun run. They dressed up in bunny ears and other fun costumes, and ran a 5k to raise money for a local charity. They also enjoyed some live music and food stalls at the finish line.

As the long weekend came to an end, Hannah felt grateful for the quality time she had spent with her loved ones and the fun activities she had taken part in. She knew that this Easter would be one to remember, filled with joy and happiness.
